The Final of the Ladies draw at the Australian Open will take place this Saturday evening when the top seeded players square off.

Simona Halep [1] v Caroline Wozniacki [2]

Halep opened her campaign here with a win over Australian teenage wild card Destanee Aiava 7-6, 6-1. In Round 2, Halep was at her absolute best as she decimated the talented Canadian Eugenie Bouchard 6-2, 6-2. The third round saw Halep forced into an epic battle with American Lauren Davis, with a long third set which eventually went Halep’s way, as she won 4-6, 6-4, 15-13. Halep made light work of the very talented Japanese teenager Naomi Osaka in the fourth round, winning 6-3, 6-2. The top seed then hit peak form here at the perfect time to annihilate sixth seed Karolina Pliskova in the quarters, winning 6-3, 6-2. Halep had a very long battle in the semi final against 21st seed Angelique Kerber, eventually winning 6-3, 4-6, 9-7.

Second seed Caroline Wozniacki made light work of her first round opponent Mihaela Buzamescu, winning through to the second round with a confident 6-2, 6-3 victory. She was pushed all the way in her second round match with Jana Fett before eventually prevailing in 3 sets, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. She was at her best in the third round, beating 30th seed Kiki Bertens 6-4, 6-3 in a commanding performance. Wozniacki then belted the 19th seed Magdalena Rybarikova 6-3, 6-0 in the round of 16. Wozniacki suffered a brief scare in her quarter final encounter against Carla Suarez Navarro before winning through 6-0, 6-7, 6-2. Wozniacki then dispatched the confident Elise Mertens in the semi final 6-3, 7-6 to reach the final.
