Golden State took a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals after dishing out a 33 point hiding to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Likely Teams

Golden State: Andrew Bogut; Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala; Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry.

Cleveland: Kevin Love; Tristan Thompson, LeBron James; JR Smith, Kyrie Irving.

There have been 107 regular season games between these sides, with the Warriors leading 56 wins to 51. There have now been 8 playoffs games with Golden State holding a commanding lead, 6 games to 2.

Golden State dropped a game in the opening 2 rounds of the playoffs against Houston and Portland, before staging a remarkable come from 3 games to 1 down against Oklahoma to win 4-3 in a stunning comeback to clinch the Western Conference and proceed to the Final. They then beat Cleveland 104-89 in Game 1 of the Finals and followed it up with a clinical 110-77 win in Game 2.

The Cleveland Cavaliers blitzed both Detroit and Atlanta in four games in the opening two rounds to reach the East Final against Toronto, which they also won, this time by 4 games to 2. They haven’t shown any of that dominance in the Finals though, losing by 15 in game one and 33 in game 2.

Key Match-Up

Forwards – After the Cav’s spent all of game 1 shutting down Curry, only to find the rest of the Warriors scoring plenty of points, they employed the same tactics again in game 2 and, lo and behold, suffered the same result, but this time it was worse. Cavs have to man up and shut down the Warriors potent attack, otherwise, their fans will be left waiting another year for that title.

With the Cavs back on home court, they will be better. There’s still question marks over whether big man Love will play. This will be a very tight battle.
